National 5 Philosophy

Your course is comprised of three units.

There is also an assignment, worth 20% of your final grade.

Arguments in Action

This is where you will discover that a philosophical 'argument' is probably not what you think it is and that there is a number of different ways that arguments can fail to be persuasive.

Knowledge & Doubt

We say that we 'know' all sorts of things and do so often. But how do we come to 'know' and, even more basically, what needs to be the case for something to count as knowledge?

Moral Philosophy

Most of us feel reasonably confident when it comes to pointing our right and wrong. This unit looks at three* normative ethical theories, examining their similarities and differences.
